Salvia canariensis ssp. candidissima
Wooly White Canary Island Sage
This rare and difficult to propagate Salvia from the Canary Islands has cotton wool like white stems with arrow shaped white wooly leaves which gradually age to silver-grey. Magenta purple flowers are held in large purple calyces on 30cm tall stems which are carried proud of the foliage. Everyone who sees it in our dry garden wants one of these plants. We can only ever seem to propagate a few each year. It grows here in a hot dry well drained spot and grows 150cm tall by 100cm across.
